1. Creative Switch Lab

    Introduction

The purpose of this lab was to develop some creativity, using the previous arrangements of wires and connections to create a new switch with fun and resourceful materials.

    Materials

    • previous wires and boards
    • legos
    • aluminum foil
    • pencil
    • tape
    • cardboard

    Procedure

Creating a structure with legos, which functioned as an ON and OFF switch.

The structure was built as an empty rectangular figure allowing 3 pieces of lego to fit in, functioning as a pivoting beam.

The cardboard was measured and covered in aluminum foil, cut to fit the bottom whole of the structure, and was fixed to it.

One of the pieces belonging to the pivoting beam section was covered underneath, also with cardboard and aluminum foil.

A pencil was inserted within the structure to work as a pivot.

    Conclusion

Using legos was a fun and creative experience, which at first did not seem to work due to the unstability it seemed to have. After fixing some pieces with tape the “switch” did work, as an ON and OFF switch.

The most interesting thing from doing the lab was knowing that anything can be converted into a switch. For doing so, there is only the need for closing the circuit and using conducting materials, whether attached or having one of the actual components be one.
